To provide our customers with the highest quality asphalt
possible, Elam Construction owns and operates six asphalt plants
located throughout Western Colorado. We do our own mix designs
and quality control, which ensures a superior finished product.
Elam Construction has asphalt plants in Grand Junction, Eagle,
Durango, Craig, and Aspen. Our sixth plant services our Highway
division and moves wherever it is needed.
Our plants produce approximately 550 thousand tons of asphalt
per year and can produce up to 300 to 400 tons per hour if
needed. All of our asphalt plants use state-of-the-art
technology, and our plant operators are trained and certified to
recognize and limit emissions. Our plants have been modified to
run on either natural gas or recycled oil. Another way Elam
strives to make our plants environmentally friendly is through
the use of recycled asphalt. Elam puts approximately 50 to 60
thousand tons of recycled asphalt per year back into our own
asphalt. Taking advantage of the 100% recyclable nature of
asphalt allows Elam Construction to reduce our use of virgin
material.
