Elam Construction - Sitework
Site work is the essential foundation of a quality finished product; it consists of a variety of tasks. Elam Construction often performs our own site work. We start by first clearing the site of all debris including any brush, grass, trees, and trash that would be in the direct path of construction. However, we are just as skilled at leaving vegetation where desired by the owner. We perform these tasks using several different types of equipment, such as loaders, scrapers, motorgraders, and excavators.

Site work also involves earthwork. This entails moving material from one part of the site to another to create the proper drainage and contours as designed by the project engineer. Sometimes it is necessary to remove excess material from the site, and other times it is necessary to import material. As this work is being performed, we are also cutting the roadways, sidewalks, and detention ponds to a subgrade elevation. The existing soil is then compacted to form a hard, smooth surface, which allows placement of road base materials and application of asphalt on top.
