If you’re interested in building a tennis court, Elam
Construction can provide a quality foundation to meet your
needs. Elam will properly prepare the site and place the asphalt
mat, providing you with a base suitable for many different final
surface options.
For a single court, an area of 60’ × 120’ is needed for the
asphalt mat. Generally, courts should be aligned north and
south, and drainage is ideally sloped to the east or west.
First, the area is cleared, graded, and compacted to meet the
detailed specifications. Next, the road base is put in place.
Once the area is ready, a 2-inch leveling course of asphalt is
laid down. It should be applied in the same direction as the
drainage slope if possible. Then an asphalt overlay fabric is
added to help prevent future cracking. Finally, a 2-inch surface
course of asphalt is put in place. The final mat will have a
uniform slope to ensure proper drainage.
Once the asphalt has cured, you can bring your court to life
with your choice of final playing surface, paint, net, lights,
fencing, and windscreen.
