Award Winning Paving and "Bending Over Backwards" Service for Residents
If you are trying to pave, weather is not your friend in the Fraser area. Annual snowfalls exceed 230 inches (that's nearly 20 feet of snow!), and the average elevation is 9,000 feet. The paving season is brief, so Elam crews in Grand County work fast. And, they work well.
In 2000, Elam Construction won a national award for paving over 65% of Fraser's previously unpaved streets. The Town of Fraser won the Street/Traffic Control award for Small Communities from the American Public Works Association. "We are proud to have won an award and have received many positive comments from residents," said Fraser Town Manager Chuck Reid. "Elam bent over backwards for local residents - we have never seen a contractor work as well with an existing community."
"Elam is honored to have been part of this project," said Harold Elam, President of Elam Construction. "While winning an award is wonderful, Elam Construction's real sense of accomplishment comes from seeing the people of Fraser enjoying asphalt streets, cleanercars and less dust."
